Aussie Broadband has secured a five-year extension for its wholesale mobile contract with Optus to offer mobile services from the telco.

Under the extended partnership, Aussie Broadband can offer Optus’ wholesale network experience, which covers full access to the telco’s mobile network as well as premium 5G, Fixed Wireless Access and mobile back-up services for consumer, enterprise and government customers.

The arrangement also contains joint opportunities for marketing collaborations between Aussie Broadband, its low-cost brand Buddy Telco and Optus.

Aussie Broadband group CEO Brian Maher said the “challenger ethos” of both brands is why it decided to expand the partnership.

“With this re-commitment we look forward to creating even more mobile choices for Australians, particularly in regional areas, and we know with Optus we can take on the big guys and deliver an exceptional mobile product on a great network,” he said.

“Optus’ investment in their network and their recent MOCN [multi-operator core network] has reset the playing field when it comes to coverage and we want to help Australians capitalise on that opportunity with some great Aussie Broadband plans.”

Stephen Rue, Optus CEO, added that the telco is focused on building long term partnerships with other organisations like Aussie Broadband while also providing “excellence in service” through a dedicated delivery team.

“As we continue to champion brands like Aussie Broadband by delivering more choice in the MVNO market, we are anchored by our commitment to deliver flexible products and network solutions that empower our partners customers with world class connectivity options,” he said.
