Blue Crystal Solutions promotes Josh Woolston to national sales manager

Takes over from Warren Drake, who is retiring after more than 40 years in the IT industry.

Blue Crystal Solutions has promoted former senior account executive Josh Woolston to national sales manager after working at the managed service provider (MSP) for the last seven years.

Effective 1 April, Woolston succeeds Warren Drake in the role who is retiring after more than 40 years in the IT industry, including the last six years spent at Blue Crystal Solutions.

Meanwhile, Woolston comes into the role with 10 years of ICT solutions and sales leadership experience. During his two and a half year stint as senior account executive, Woolston delivered a number or projects, including an AWS migration for the federal government and an Azure Cloud move for Catholic Education South Australia.

“I’ve got some big shoes to fill following Warren’s retirement and the impact he made on our customers, partners and business,” Woolston said.

“This new opportunity will see me continue to build on his foundation, leading our team, refining our go-to-market strategies and expanding our brand as trusted ICT providers within our industries.”

Blue Crystal Solutions said Woolston also holds expertise in addressing IT challenges for the energy industry, particularly for projects involving Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) environments, due to working with clients like CS Energy, CleanCo, APA and Energy Australia.

“His efforts directly enable Blue Crystal Solutions to go on to successfully manage [thousands] of databases and support more than 100 energy market applications critical to AEMO, effectively reducing risk, lowering operational costs and preventing potential downtime for our clients,” the MSP said in a statement.

Managing director Vito Rinaldi added that Woolston’s new role is “critical” for the business.

“His proven leadership, industry insight and passion for delivering outstanding results will undoubtedly fuel our continued growth and success,” he said. “Josh’s appointment not only reaffirms our commitment to building on Drake’s legacy but also strengthens our position in the marketplace.”
