Cybermate is offering local charities free cyber security awareness training to counter the growing number of cyber attacks targeting the not-for-profit sector.

The cyber security training service provider’s initiative was in response to reports that local charities are vulnerable to cyber-attacks.

Cybermate wants to give all Australian-registered charities free online access to its cyber security awareness training for small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

The training approach used is called ‘Psybersecurity’. It leverages behavioural psychology, gamified training, simulated cyber attacks and real-time threat alerts to significantly reduce the risk of human-related cyber security breeches.

This also aligns closely with the Australian government’s national cyber security strategy, which highlights the critical need to uplift the cyber capabilities of small businesses and charities, claimed the provider.

Cybermate CEO Greg Caleo said the offer was intended to remove the financial barriers to training staff about human-related cyber security risks.

“Charities do incredible work, often under challenging conditions, but financial constraints can prevent them from accessing effective cyber security resources,” he said. “Leaving charities exposed to breaches that can severely disrupt operations and impact vulnerable communities.

“We saw an urgent need to support their efforts by offering our training platform free of charge.”

Australian-registered charities can sign up to the training immediately via Cybermate’s website. Once the charity status is verified, they will gain complimentary full access to the platform’s premium tools and dedicated support throughout 2025.

“This supports our mission to make Australia [one of] the most cyber-secure nation on earth, ensuring cyber security awareness training is cost-effective and accessible, so cyber security can be risk-free in all the ways that count,” said Caleo.

“We believe cyber security should be accessible to every organisation, regardless of size or budget. By empowering charities with our innovative training, we aim to build a stronger, safer digital environment that benefits everyone.”
