Credit: Brad Colledge (Data#3) After a remarkable 27-year career in the IT industry, Ray Merlano, General Manager for Queensland and the Pacific Islands at Data#3, has retired. Data#3 chief executive officer and managing director, Brad Colledge said Merlano leaves behind a legacy of strong leadership and customer focus. Merlano joined the Australian technology services and solutions provider in 1994, working in business development for a decade. From 2004, he held roles at major organisations including Microsoft and CA Technologies. He returned to Data#3 in 2009 as a sales manager and was promoted to general manager for Queensland in 2014. Merlano will be succeeded by Rowena Collins who will step into his role effective on 1 July. “Rowena’s appointment ensures continuity and fresh energy as we continue to grow our Queensland business and support our customers in delivering their digital futures,” said Colledge. Collins is expected to lead the Queensland and Pacific Islands business, overseeing strategic growth, customer engagement, and operational excellence across the region. Her appointment follows a rigorous selection process, reflecting Data#3’s commitment to both merit-based advancement and the development of internal talent. Data#3 chief customer officer, John Tan said Collins’ deep understanding of the business, her collaborative leadership style, and her proven ability to deliver results made her the standout choice. “Her strong services background aligns with our commitment to helping customers achieve their business and technology outcomes through highly skilled resources, vendor expertise, and consistent, collaborative delivery that maximises the value of every technology investment,” he said. Collins brings over 20 years of experience in the ICT industry, including more than 13 years with Data#3. She has held senior roles across services and major accounts, working with both commercial and government sectors. As a key contributor to the Data#3 Queensland major accounts group, she has consistently delivered cross-line-of-business outcomes, built enduring customer and vendor relationships, and demonstrated a deep understanding of Data#3’s culture. “Queensland has always been a strong, strategic market for Data#3, and I’m excited to build on that momentum,” she said.
