IT service provider Experteq has promoted Pat Murphy to the role of CEO, succeeding Shane Baker who departs the role after 12 years.

Murphy is currently Experteq’s chief commercial officer and has been a part of its senior leadership team for the past three years. He will take over the role of CEO on 18 September.

Meanwhile, Baker will step down as CEO in September 2025 after a long tenure leading the company through ongoing industry change while strengthening its position as an IT service provider for mutual banks and other regulated organisations.

A phased transition of responsibilities is already underway, with both leaders working closely to ensure continuity and momentum leading up to the official handover.

“The business has evolved significantly under Shane’s leadership and we are deeply grateful for the strong foundations he has built,” said Experteq board chair Ashley Jennings.

Prior to Experteq, Murphy has held several leadership positions in various organisations, including Insight and Data#3.

With more than 20 years of deep domain experience in managed and professional services, he has built, managed and scaled businesses.

Jennings said Murphy has played a key role in shaping its commercial strategy, deepening engagement with clients.

“He brings extensive leadership and management experience, as well as a wealth of both technical and sector expertise,” he said. “This leadership transition ensures Experteq will continue to deliver for customers, shareholders and staff in the years to come.”
