Staff takes on the newly created role with a vision to disrupt the MSP space Credit: Jonathan Staff Technology services provider ASE has appointed Jonathan Staff as its new group chief revenue officer (CRO). Staff joins ASE from ASX-listed Macquarie Technology Group, where he led the company’s private cloud division. He maintains more than 20 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, managed services and commercial leadership with expertise in scaling technology businesses and delivering customer-focused outcomes. ASE powers critical infrastructure across Australia’s major industries, providing the technology for the nation’s largest energy generators, logistics companies, and major ports in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. The company’s diverse portfolio also extends to construction and other key sectors. “Jonathan has built an impressive track record of success over a long career and will bring a strong customer focus, experience in leading high-performing teams and a results-driven approach that will continue to help us deliver even greater value to our customers,” ASE founder and CEO Andrew Sjoquist said. “Jonathan’s move from Macquarie validates what we’ve been building: a solutions-first alternative that delivers speed, certainty, and outcomes that enterprises can trust. With AI demand accelerating faster than global infrastructure can support it, Australian businesses need partners who understand their specific requirements, not just generic cloud services. “We’re seeing a fundamental shift in how Australian enterprises think about technology. The one-size-fits-all hyperscale model is hitting limits. Costs are spiralling, sovereignty concerns are real, and AI workloads need more flexible, localised compute options. Staff added that the managed technology and security services market is ripe for disruption. “Customers demand more choice and innovation, and ASE delivers. I’m excited to bring that value to more Australian businesses,” he said. Staff was persuaded to join ASE to disrupt the managed service space. “Australian businesses need more choice and flexibility when it comes to the tech that powers their business,” he said. “ASE has a unique ability to deploy and manage innovative solutions to common business problems. They have been a “best kept secret” for too long, and that’s about to change.” Initially, Staff will focus on getting to know the team and the customers as well as nurturing new solution capabilities within the group. Growth is the main priority, he said. “We will unlock this via bringing new capabilities to existing customers and entering new markets,” he said. “AI is a huge opportunity. ASE can help businesses take advantage of the opportunity in a safe and cost-effective way that makes sense for them. “I see big opportunities to bring AI to the edge along with helping people deploy and manage new ways of working as they integrate AI into their business.” Touching on ASE’s point of differentiation, Staff said ASE was not afraid to challenge the status quo and take on leading-edge technologies to help their customers. “The Ask, Solve, Evolve approach means they are always curious and striving to meet their customers where they are,” he said. “In a market dominated by big tech, it can be hard for Australian businesses to discern what’s right for them. ASE cuts through the noise and gets results.” SUBSCRIBE TO OUR NEWSLETTER From our editors straight to your inbox Get started by entering your email address below.
