Superloop has signed three partnerships within its Smart Communities division, worth about $20 million in total customer value, across more than 13,000 beds in the purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) sector.

These deals will see the provider offer certain services, such as internet connectivity and possibly other technological infrastructure, for large-scale student housing developments.

Superloop will provide services to:

  • The Journal Student Living for its new student accommodation portfolio.
  • Campus Living Villages and its 4,500 existing beds
  • Exal for its upcoming 900+ bed student accommodation development in Perth, set to open in 2026.

In addition, Superloop has been awarded the Fibre-to-the-Premise (FTTP) Statutory Infrastructure Provider role for other residential MDU opportunities with the premium property developer.

The PBSA portfolio will be managed by Global Student Accommodation Yugo.

“Our goal has been to build genuine partnerships with our customers and to support them as they develop premium accommodation tailored to students’ evolving needs and habits,” Jonathon Runge, principal director of Smart Communities at Superloop said.

In May, Superloop signed an expanded services contract with water treatment and chemical distributor Ixom that will last until at least 2028.

Within the project, Superloop designed, deployed and managed a high-availability global network with enterprise security services at more than 40 Ixom locations in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and the USA.

In February, Superloop rejected Aussie Broadband’s proposal to acquire all its shares in a deal with an implied total value of nearly $467 million.

At the time, Aussie announced its intentions to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) to acquire all of Superloop’s shares in a deal that implied a value of $0.95 per Superloop share, totaling approximately $467 million.

Superloop Smart Communities is the combined business of the VostroNet acquisition and former Superloop Managed Wi-Fi.
