Slipstream Cyber has expanded its senior leadership team with two hires in the form of David Kaplan as cyber security general manager and Steve MacDonald as cyber security practice director.

Kaplan’s role will see him lead Slipstream’s active defence, digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) and consulting teams.

In a statement, the security service provider said he has been working closely with its team since March and in that time has made “a significant impact across delivery and consulting functions.”

Kaplan enters the role with over 25 years of experience in cyber security and IT services, with more than 10 years of this coming from his previous employer, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

In addition, he has also worked at Dimension Data, earthwave, IBM Internet Security Systems and Cisco.

Meanwhile, MacDonald’s position sees him lead Slipstream’s commercial, partnerships, customer success and pre-sales teams. Prior to Slipstream, he worked at Balbix, as well as Telstra, Elastica Cloud Security, Envisian, Imperva, HP Enterprise Security Products, Check Point Software Technologies, Com Tech Communications and Colonial.

Both hires will report to parent company Interactive’s chief operating officer, Nick Scholefield, who said that the appointments were part of its three-year Unite28 plan.

“Strong leadership is critical in today’s dynamic cyber landscape,” he added. “Threats are evolving fast, and so must we. We’re investing in leaders who can cut through complexity, move at speed and help our customers build lasting resilience.”
